I neglected to specifically mention in my post last week that
the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library will be
providing a site for the videoconference "The Future for
Librarians: Positioning Yourself for Success" at no charge
to attendees. The Case Western Reserve University Law
Library is con-sponsoring our provision of a site for the
videoconference.
In case you have been out of town or otherwise not seen
notices, the videoconference will be on Thursday, March 20,
1997, from 2:00pm till 3:30pm EST. The videoconference is
jointly sponsored by the American Association of Law
Libraries, Medical Library Association, Special Libraries
Association, and Lexis-Nexis.
Our site for the videoconference will be in the International
Conference Center (ie, UC1) of the Cleveland State University
Center Building (2121 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH). It is
suggested that attendees arrive no later than 1:45pm. Again,
there is no fee to attend the videoconference. Parking is
available for $3.00 in CSU Lot A (at East 24th Street and
Euclid Avenue, east of the Bookstore) and the University
Center.
One may pre-register to attend the videoconference at our
site by contacting Laura Ray, Media/Reference Librarian,
Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Library, 1801 Euclid
Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115, 216-687-6880, FAX 216-687-5098,
laurar@jaslan.csuohio.edu. One may also register on-site.
Again it is suggested that attendees arrive no later than
1:45pm.
The Preliminary Agenda for the videoconference is: Program
Introduction; Segment 1: New Roles to Enhance the
Librarian's Career; Segment 2: Marketing Ideas to Promote
the Librarian within the Institution; and Program Summary.
There will be question and answer sessions after Segments 1
and 2 - questions that have been faxed or called in will be
answered in these sessions.
The videoconference panel will be composed of: Mark E.
Estes, Library Services Director, Holme Roberts & Owen
Library, Denver, CO; Joanne G. Marshall, PhD, AHIP,
Professor, Information Studies Faculty, University of
Toronto, ON; Toby Pearlstein, PhD, Information Services
Manager, Bain & Company, Boston, MA; and Bernie Todd Smith,
AHIP, Library and Circuit Librarian Program Director, Werner
Health Sciences Library, Rochester General Hospital,
Rochester, NY.
We hope to see many northeastern Ohio librarians at the
videoconference. In addition to the program itself, this
will be a wonderful opportunity to network with your legal,
medical, and special librarian colleagues.
