I'd like to thank the many people who responded to my request. I was
asked to post the responses to the list, so here they are.

Recommendation for the article "Tips for Moving from WordPerfect to
Word" found in Law Office Computing Feb/March 1996.

Word has help for WordPerfect users to ease the transition. Make sure
your look for it. If you use WordPerfect key combinations, you get a
pop-up message telling you how to do what you want to do.

"The Complete Reference" by Mary Campbell. Used as a reference. $30.
PC Learning Labs "Teaches Word 6.0 for Windows" (pub. Ziff-Davis, $22.95)
Covers basics, but not advanced techniques like macros. However, both are
for Windows 3.1 - we will be using Word for Windows 95.

"I Hate Word for Windows but This Book Makes it Easy" is kept at each
printer. Uses Shoe cartoons. "A very easy book to use - I looked at
at ton of them"

Ron Mansfield, _Mastering Word 6 for Windows_ has a section for Word
Perfect users. Unless I am mistaken, I want to caution you about trying to
bring up WP6.1 files in Word. On my machine, at leasdt, Word can't do it.
Word will convert all WP 4.x and 5.x files, but not WP 6.1. What I've
had to do in that case is to call up the document in WP 6.1, Save As Word
or WP 5.1, (exit if you wish), then bring it up in Word. In fact, I think
that Mansfield's manual tells you that Word 6 will not convert WP 6.1 files.

Microsoft's web site has a resource page for educators. There are a number
of good videos. We set aside book funds with assistance from administra-
tion and each staff member was allowed $25 to purchase their favorite
manual at Barnes & Noble. Most didn't take advantage of if and used the
books we had set up in computer zones in faculty, secretarial, and support
staff areas.

The Dummies books; they also have a web site at http://www.dummies.com

West has just released a two volume series on Windows 95 Word. This
response was sent in an uploaded press release file and the price did
not come through correctly. Actual title is _Busy Lawyer's Guide to
Microsoft Word for Windows 95_.

Microsoft Word Complete Concepts and Techniques_, ISBN 0789507196.
You can call 800-648-7450 for a complimentary copy. Clear desriptions
and visuals.

Microsoft's Step-by-Step series. Also, Word has a Tip of the Day that
can come up every time you open Word. The help and tutorial features
are also good.

_Prima Visual Learning Guides_, published by Prima Publishing, P.O.
Box 1260BK, Rocklin, CA 95677. Has guides for Word, Excel, and
Power Point.

_10 Minute Guide to Word for Windows 6", $10.95. Published by Alpha
Books (Prentice Hall Computer Publishing); may now be published by Que.
