Just to add a different twist to the print give-away discussion, I work for a
major corporation (BellSouth) that recently merged two operating companies,
doing away with a Headquarters Legal Department office (and library) in
Birmingham, AL, as well as a separate services company (and library). Hence,
free books.
I will also be giving away reporters from our library here in Atlanta in the
near future, for all of the reasons that have been stated by others, with the
exception that we will keep the first series, because, in our industry, where
the law seems to be especially "new," it is also, in many areas, very "old"
(railroads, poles, etc.), and I am likely to need them more often than others
might.
