Hello

FYI here is a summary of the nine responses I received regarding
a reliable heavy duty stapler. I am sorry if I misquoted anyone.
If you recognize your response below, and I misquoted you, please
let me know or post the correction to the list.

Brand: Etona
Number of people recommending Etona: four
Comments:
"I've used an Etona stapler for our law firm. It takes a lot
of abuse. It's really lightweight and you would think it wouldn't
work, but it does and it never jams. The staples come in disposable
cartridges in four colours, blue for 2-20, green for 20-40, yellow
for 40-60 and red for 60-100".

"Etona puts out a great heavy duty one. Cartridges load/unload
easily and the whole stapler is very light and made of plastic.
 It's a light press rather than a 'banging'. . . ."

"We are using three heavy duty staplers -- brand name: ETONA.
They perform quite well. We purchased three different staplers
according to sizes of stapler cartridges (yellow for 30-50 pp)
(green for 50-70 pp) and (red for 70-100 pp). They are light
weight plastic and cost us around thirty dollars each. I was
surprised at how well they have been holding up. It's very easy
to change the color-coded cartridge. Only drawback is the used
cartridges are not able to be refilled".

"Etona EC3".

Brand: Swingline 113
Number of people recommending Swingline 113: two
"We have a heavy duty stapler that has worked well over the past
three years. It is a Swingline 113".

Brand: Boston 136
Number of people recommending Boston 136: one
"We have been using our Boston 136 stapler for several months,
and we have had no problem with it".

Brand: MAX
Number of people recommending MAX: one
"The MAX stapler accommodates both small (one fourth to
three eighths inch) and large (one half to one inch)
staples. It is button operated and front loading with no
removable part. It is durable and reliable. Avoid purchasing
rear loading heavy duty staplers. MAX Co. LTD.
 Made in Japan".

The following library is happy with their electric "normal"
 stapler:
"We tried several different brands and found that none worked
without repeated jams. It became such a nuisance that we no
longer provide a heavy duty stapler for patron use. We do
provide a "normal" capacity electric stapler for patron use.
We find that the electric stapler is nearly trouble free.
Brand we have: Panasonic Model AS 300N. It easily staples
twenty-five to thirty sheets of paper".
