The mess is here to stay, I'm afraid. Well, at least for a year or two
until the dust settles at West and they decide which accounting
practice and management style works for the new company. (Having gone
through a couple of mergers I know what kind of turmoil can be generated
when half the staff is clueless to how things are done and the other
half is scared silly they'll lose their jobs. It's been my experience
that there is very little mergering in mergers - it's really a matter of
one side taking over and the other being over taken.)
I think in the long run Reed taking over the forty titles in dispute
will be a good thing as it will allow Reed to be back in the ballgame
and give West a run for their money.
