This is posted for a comment by West, but if you know the answer, please
respond as well.
While going thru the new improved West statements, I discovered we were
charged in December for something called the "FRD AS 97 CHG" at 79.80.
The footnote is that this is an annual charge. My question to West,
which their phone reps couldn't answer is this: what the hell is this
charge for? What am I buying for this 79.80?
Each West bound reporter, such as the F3d is invoiced separately and
covers the charges for its advance sheets. On none of them do we pay any
charges except for the bound volume invoices. The Supreme Court Reporter
is an exception because we get advance sheets, interim bound and real
bound voumes "when issued" for a charge per term of the court.
On the FRD, we also pay for each bound volume as it is received.
So what are we paying this annual charge for?
If this is supposed to pay for 12 slim advance sheets in addition to the
bound volume prices, this is an outrageous rip-off.
