The preliminary programs and registration forms for the Southeastern
Chapter, American Association of Law Libraries (SEAALL) annual meeting have
been mailed!

"Law Libraries in the Sunshine," April 17-19, 1997, will present timely
topics, knowledgeable speakers, and a wonderful location for recuperating
from the long, cold winter. Tallahassee, Florida is the site of SEAALL's
Annual Meeting, where the spotlight is on subjects as diverse as
outsourcing, lobbying, "thinking outside the box", law library education,
"family friendly" libraries, intranets, regulating college athletics and
legal publishing trends. A one-day institute, entitled "The Messenger and
the Message: Effective Communication Skills for Law Librarians," will focus
on key skills to help law librarians in all types of
organizations communicate with users and management more effectively. This
includes planning for training, presentation skills, including presentation
software, and networking effectively within the organization.

"I can't imagine any place more beautiful than Tallahassee in the
springtime," said the late Red Barber once on NPR's _Morning Edition_. In
addition to the azaleas, dogwood and wisteria, SEAALL hopes to expose
members and guests to part of the "real Florida," with a reception at the
Old Capitol, a visit to world-famous Wakulla Springs, and optional theater
and music events on the Florida State University campus.

If you are not a member of SEAALL, but would like to receive a copy of
the program brochure and registration information, send your "snail mail"
address to me at: atstone@law.fsu.edu

Also, please remember that you can subscribe to the SEAALL discussion
list, where future news or updates regarding the Annual Meeting might be
posted. To subscribe, address an e-mail message to: maiser@uofrlaw.urich.edu
and in the text area of message, type: subscribe seaall-l firstname lastname

We're looking forward to your visit in April! -- Alva
