One of our professors has requested help in finding an article. I have
been unable to find the correct article so far. The year seems to be
somewhere between 1985-87. The article was fairly in-depth (about 20
pages or so) and was not in a legal periodical. It read like a story,
but detailed the case's background and all the legal maneuvering on
both sides. The professor believes the article was in Vanity Fair or
maybe Esquire. Any suggestions?
The professor's actual request follows:
I am trying to locate a Vanity Fair magazine article appearing a few
years ago concerning the case of Pennzoil vs. Texaco. The article
discussed the roles of the attorneys, executives, the jury and the court
in arriving at a multi-billion dollar verdict against Texaco. Some of
the participants were Getty Oil company and its leader, Paul Getty,
Pennzoil and its CEO, Hugh Liedke, and the Plaintiff's counsel, Joseph
Jamail of Houston, Texas. I have searched Lexis-Nexis and Westmate but
have not turned up the article. Could you please help.
