Our library is interested in using authoring software to create
tutorials and instructional guides. We are looking for
one or more software packages that could serve a variety of purposes:

1. Teach students how to use a research tool.
2. Introduce them to the library collection.
3. Help them use computer applications.

The tutorials may be used as plug-ins or standalone
applications, and would be available over the network (local web).

If anyone has used authoring software, we would like to know:

1. What software applications you have used? Currently, we are
considering Toolbook and Macromedia.
2. What were your experiences using the software? Was it user
friendly? Did the manufacturer provide support? or training?
3. What kind of tutorials have you been able to create with it?
Interactive? Non-interactive? etc.
4. Was it economical?

Any other comments or information that you can offer concerning
authorware would be most appreciated.

Thank you.
