I'm writing to ascertain if anyone else received the _Annual Report of
WTO 1996_ from Bernan? We received the GATT (now WTO) annual report in 1995
for $29 from Unipub (Bernan and Unipub merged so all Unipub publications
come from Bernan). The WTO Annual
rep. is now $80! That's almost
triple the price. I spoke with Bernan and the reason the price increased
so much is because the _WTO Annual Report_ includes another publication
called _International Trade_. We were never on standing order to receive
the second publication but are billed for both because the two publications
are combined. When I called to ask permission to send the WTO Annual Report
back, permission
was denied because "standing orders cannot be returned". I commented on
the price increase and the fact that we never had on standing order the
International Trade title but was told I had to pay anyway. I was also
told that Bernan is just passing on the price from the publisher.
How can we be expected to stay in budget with this price gouging!!! My
attorney thought the report was "nice" but not worth $80. Any
comments/suggestions would be welcome.
