FYI, Ellen, Appleman now consists of 57 volumes and one whole volume is
the "Table of Contents and Index", so you are not far off. The problem
is why I would want to pay $100 a volume for Appleman, with an estimated
completion date 17 years in the future from a company that wants to split
it off. Is Appleman worth $5700? I am only 46 and will probably be
retired before they finish, if anyone is still interested in books that
far into the future. Unless they can compress the revision cycle into
2-3 years, no one is going to wait that long and pump that much money
into a set of law books.

According to Ellen M. Poler:
..
.. 57 VOLUMES!
..
.. This sounds like a law publisher's relief act. Has anyone thought of a
.. rewrite? This becomes a candidate for CD ROM, just because no one will
.. be able to find anything. It sounds like the table of contents will be
.. one volume.
..
.. What will they sell to new customers in the meantime?
