We had all of our Little Brown titles on notify which meant that we
receivied notice when supplements were ready, but they were not shipped
unless Little Brown recieved signed authorizations from us. Now Little
Brown is becoming part of Aspen. Someone at Aspen told our acquisitions
assistant on the phone just before Christmas that Aspen could not do
notifications. I am almost positive that I have received a few such
authorization notices from Aspen in the past. With the number of
government institutions and large corporations which cannot make payments
without a purchase order, I have difficulty believing that such a large
company cannot accomodate our need for notification and prior
authorization before shipping supplemental material. Has anyone else run
into this problem? If so, how are you handling it? With all these
mergers, we no longer have the option of dropping all the companies who
don't want to provide the service we need.
