There are 3 organizations that offer training courses for people
interested in taking the Patent and Trademark Office's registration exam,
as well as courses for patent professionals. Whether they have more
general courses, I don't know. The three are:

1. Patent Resources Group, Inc., 528 East Main Street, Charlottesville,
VA 22902, (804) 296-3900.

2. Practicing Law Institute, New York City (I can't find a brochure with a
more complete address).

3. Professional Programs Group, P.O. Box 9815, Newport Beach, CA
92658, 1-800-523-2509

There are any number of 1-2 day general courses for those who want
familiarity, but don't intend to practice as patent attorneys, per se. I don't
have specific suggestions or a list, but your client may want to try the
following for a list:

4. American Intellectual Property Law Association, 2001 Jefferson Davis
Highway, Suite 203, Arlington, VA 22202, (703) 415-0780.

5. American Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Division. I don't
have an exact address, but the ABA is headquartered in Chicago, and
has a major office in DC. I'm not sure which office the IP Division works
out of.
