West Information Publishing Group Displays New Electronic
Products
at the American Association of Law Schools Annual Meeting
December 11, 1996, EAGAN, Minn. - West Information Publishing Group
(WIPG) will be demonstrating the latest law school and legal research
technology at the nation's largest gathering of law school professionals
and deans, the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) Annual Meeting.
The meeting will be held January 2-7, 1997 in Washington, D.C.
Participants can see demonstrations of products including electronic
casebooks, new print course materials, The West Education Network and
WESTMATE 6.1 at booths 101 and 201.
"Whether you're practicing law or studying law, you need quality
information. You need information that's accurate, comprehensive, and
easy to find. And, that's always been the strength of the WIPG companies
- providing the primary and secondary sources that law students and
professors trust," says Brian Hall, president of WIPG. This year's
conference is the first time Thomson Legal Publishing and West have
shared a booth at the show.
WIPG will also premier the latest electronic products from Lawyers
Cooperative Publishing and Clark Boardman Callaghan, as well as showcase
West's electronic book titles, such as Dressler's Cases and Materials on
Criminal Law, Marcus, Redish and Sherman's Civil Procedure: A Modern
Approach and Prosser, Wade & Schwartz's Torts. In addition, participants
can try out West's products firsthand and provide feedback at West's
electronic product suite. Representatives will be on hand to assist with
products and answer questions.
For the first time at an AALS meeting, West will be showing the new Web
version of The West Education Network, (TWEN), which allows law
professors to create an electronic extension of the classroom. TWEN
enables students to hold discussion forums, communicate with expert
guests and read electronic course materials right from their computer.
WESTLAW, West's computer-assisted legal research service, offers more
than 9,000 databases of legal, business, financial and public records
information, plus extensive editorial enhancements. WESTMATE 6.1 for
Windows software customizes the user's computer for WESTLAW research
using a graphical interface and context-sensitive command buttons.
