The Stanford Law Library is soliciting applications for the
position of Library Systems Manager.
Description

The Library Systems Manager is responsible for the forward
planning, development, implementation, and effective operation
of electronic systems in the Robert Crown Law Library, including
information access and delivery, administrative processes, technical
functions, and operation of the Library network. Advises the Library on the
application of electronic technology to support
its institutional needs and purposes. Coordinates Law Library systems with
the Law School's Computer Services Department, and
with other University units. Serves as local technical
expert in a complex computing environment, which opeates 96 hours per week
on a seven-day schedule. Library systems include
Sirsi/Unicorn, Lexis, Westlaw, and a variety of other
computer applications. The Systems Manager evaluates and
recommends new technology; installs and integrates hardware
and software; monitors and corrects systems problems; coordinates
outsourced services; provides customer support to Library
staff and Library users; assesses and resolves client
needs; and implements appropriate training. User assistance
includes the provision of special services to the disabled.
Qualifications
--------------
Bachelor's degree and appropriate experience in computer
systems and information technology required, including
software and network applications, client user support,
system maintenance, and Internet expertise. This should
include technical knowledge of TCP/IP, Novell, DOS,
Windows 3.1 and 95, Macintosh, CD-ROM and Internet
servers. Additional qualifications in library or information
science desirable. Ability to plan and organize work
independently, apply judgment and initiative towards
problem solving, managing priorities, and operate within
resource constraints. Ability to work well under
pressure, and to handle multiple projects; combine
high productivity with accuracy and attention to detail.
Effective dexterity, and ability to lift and move
desktop computer equipment. Strong service commitment,
good communication and interpersonal skills, ability
to work with others, and with clients having a wide
range of technology expertise.
Salary Range

Salary range is $ 3,161 - 4,017; exempt position
