As a librarian at the New York Public Library, the institution
portrayed in "Party Girl," I am pleased to find out that we have now
made prime time popular culture. I will certainly try out this new
     show next week.

By the way, someone suggested that it was not realistic that the Party
Girl was sometimes working at the reference desk. In fact, the New
York Public Library does have positions for college graduates where
they are considered still clerical, but do work at the reference desk.
In the branches they are called Information Assistants, and in the
Research Libraries they are Library Technical Assitant III or Library
     Technical Assistant IV.

I have passed the word to the librarians in my division that our
institution is being portrayed. It is nice to hear for a change about
positive images of librarians in the media.
