I received a message from a friend who disagreed with my position on the flame
against the LOIS president. She did not post her reply to the list, so I'm
stripping identifying information from my reply to her to protect her privacy,
but I nevertheless want to see some further discussion of these issues.

I do mean what I said, and particularly since I reread the name signed to the
flame ("Bo Ring") and realized it's not even a name. I think anonymous hate
mail is worse any day than a good informative ad. And we are going to look
into LOIS. Anne Burnett used it at UArk and says it's quite good. The way
things are going in the CALR world, it looks to me like we should encourage
all the rinky-dink publishers to put out competing products.
