Re: Great (SPAM) message to legal publishers (fwd)

I've heard that one can take legal action against an enterprise that uses
telemarketing if one warns the enterprise not to telephone one again and
the enterprise does repeat the solicitation. I did a quick LEXIS search
in the CURRNT file but didn't read carefully enough to find this on point,
'cause I've got to get back to cataloging. But if this is true, I
wonder if one asks to be taken off an e-mail distribution list and isn't,
if one can take legal action.

In a message dated 96-09-04 20:03:24 EDT, kparker@pita.com (Kyle D. Parker)
of LOIS writes:

<< I am proud of our company. I am proud of our prices. I am proud of the
quality of our data. I am proud of the 1,400 employees that are dedicated to
making a difference. I do listen. I do care. >>
(etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.)
Would every member of this list, who is equally proud of his or her
company, please send an equally long, tedious advertising message to all the
other members so we can really fill this list up with fascinating,
back-patting, self-promoting puffery. Thank you.
