Gary -

I subscribe to several listservs which are set to reply to the list, not the
original poster. On numerous occasions, this default setting has resulted in
private messages being inadvertently sent to the whole list, which can be
embarassing for the sender. In addition, when the list encounters auto-
responders or bounces, it sets up an endless loop that must be *caught* by
the listowner. Since the various lists I am talking about are fairly
low-traffic
ones, such problems rarely occur. When they do, the listowner reacts quickly.

Consider the ramifications of message looping on law-lib. Since the listowner
does not read law-lib, there would be a *significant* delay in breaking loops.

Given the various options available, I would much rather just delete a half
dozen bounced messages for every message I post to the list, than open my
mailbox and find over 1000 bounces & auto-responses waiting for me!

My $.02 ...
