RECEPTION ANNOUNCEMENT - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18TH
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the Law Society of Upper Canada
Enter through the wrought iron gates and join your colleagues for a wine
and cheese reception sponsored by the Law Society of Upper Canada at
historic Osgoode Hall. Osgoode Hall is the home of the Law Society which
is the governing body for lawyers in the province of Ontario. The Law
Society will be celebrating its bicentennial in 1997. The Hall has also
been the home of several different courts throughout its history. Now,
the Ontario Court of Appeal is based there.
The reception will take place in Convocation Hall. This magnificent room
is now the Barristers' Dining Room. It boasts stained glass windows, wood
panelling and an enormous clock hanging from the middle of the ceiling.
We will be welcomed by Law Society dignitaries and staff of the Great
Library. Tours of this Library, a comprehensive legal research facility
run by the Law Society for lawyers throughout the province, will be
available during the reception.
Osgoode Hall is just steps away from the Marriott Hotel.
The NE '96 Planning Committee extends its thanks to the Law Society and
the Great Library staff, particularly Maureen Hyland, for sponsoring and
organizing this reception.
(Those people who are attending the Dutch Treat dinners on Friday evening
will meet after the reception.)
