To update the situation at the Science, Industry, and Business
Library: The fire was not in the area that is being used by the
library, but was rather in the part that is under rennovation to house
the CUNY (City University of New York) Graduate School offices. The
library was not affected by the fire, and will be open for regularly
scheduled hours today, Saturday, August 24th.

By the way, for those of you in the New York Metro Area who are faced
with the referral of the general public for law materials, the
Mid-Manhattan Library still has its law materials available. Please
feel free to send the general public to Mid-Manhattan for law
     materials.

A 5 alarm fire is raging on the top floor of the old
          B. Altman department store on E34 St bet Fifth and Madison
          Ave in Manhattan NYC.

As you may know, New York Public moved all its science,
business & technical materials (including patents) into the
lower floors of this building this May. These collections
along with the NYExpress (formerly Corporate Services)
document delivery service, are closed today.
