I've just received our supplement 96-2 to Aspen's Federal Taxation of
Municipal Bonds. Along with this came the Federal Taxation of Municipal
Bonds Deskbook. Total price: $181.90. We don't want or need the
deskbook and in the past it was priced separately and I've returned it for
credit. This time there was not separate line amount for the deskbook. I
called our rep at Aspen who initially indicated that the deskbook was
an integral part of the supplement. After a couple of conversations, I
was able to get her to concede that this was not a part of the supplement
and she is arranging for us to return the volume for an unspecified
credit.
It is exactly these tactics which cause our budgets to creep up even
faster than they would otherwise. Be vigilant. (The AALL session on
Inflation in Legal Publishing was very inspiring.) sz
