The sources you should use depend on the jurisdiction. In most
instances, criminal background checks must be done on a county by county
basis. Also, the most effective searches for this type of information
are done manually. It will also help you to know how the information
requested will be used. For example, when performing pre-employment
checks there is usually a 7 year limit -- meaning any crimes older than 7
years may not be disclosed for employment purposes.

If you want a professional to perform the criminal background check, I
recommend Lynn Peterson (510-653-5061).
