REFERENCE LIBRARIAN
July, 1994
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Library Science
Juris Doctor degree
Minimum of four years professional library experience
Prefer: Familiarity with LEXIS and WESTLAW. Familiarity with OCLC,
Dialog, and Internet resources desirable.
(Above requirements may be met by equivalent combination of education and related
experience.)
DUTIES
Administration
Keeping information desk schedules
Preparing monthly statistics of reference activity
Participating in selection and collection development
Possible supervision of reference assistants
Training of reference assistants
Reference
Substantial information desk duties
Providing general reference assistance to patrons including computer-assisted
research for professors
Preparing material to assist patrons using the library
Preparing bibliographies and class presentations at request of supervisor or
professors
Teaching patrons to access information in electronic and CD-ROM formats
Checking collection holdings against bibliographies to assist in collection
development
Selected dissemination of information
MISCELLANEOUS
Assisting with LEXIS and WESTLAW training and usage
Coordinating publication of library aids
Giving tours of the library to such groups as university pre-law clubs
Preparing material for annual report
