One of my attorneys has been researching the Hague Convention. His
question is whether, in order to serve a French national in France with a
complaint pending in the United States, the complaint and/or the exhibits
attached to the complaint must be first translated into French.
The notes to the Hague Convention in the Martindale-Hubbell show some
countries specifically requiring (or not requiring) translation; however,
the notes for France show neither requirement nor waiver of requirement.
Can anyone find a reference, other than Martindale-Hubbell's edition
which gives a concrete answer?
As usual, the attorney needs the information the day before yesterday.
Many many thanks.
