Roberta-

Yes, we have to pay for it. However, we don't personally pay anything,
as the law library pays a flat fee to both companies for unlimited use.
The unlimited use is for students, full-time faculty and library
personnel.

This may change in the near future as both companies are starting to
view academic law libraries as a money pit instead of the loss leader
they used to view us as. As costs to us rise, many of the smaller,
poorer law schools may be forced to choose between the systems, or
choose to remove bothe systems.

This would initially be seen as damaging to our students, and our
schools reputations. However, I gaurantee that the schools that went
this route would end up turning out far better legal researchers than
the students graduating currently. This would then reverse any negative
assumptions rather quickly.

I hope this helps,

Brian-
