I want to second Patricia Patterson's comments on Web access for attorneys.
My firm has also made the decision to keep Web access in the Library for now.
The Librarians are well trained at information retrieval and are working daily
to keep up-to-date on the Web. We encourage attorneys to get Internet access
at home and to learn all that they can. We hold regular workshops on the
Internet for anyone in the firm who is interested. But, as far as a tool to
gather information for use in research, the Librarians are charged with this
responsibility.
I hope to see more firms come back to this way of thinking. We are the
information professionals. We must educate the firms to the best ways (and
the most appropriate agents) to find information. Now that so many of us have
improved our skills on the Web, show your firms and schools that you have this
talent.
