Mr. Sugarman, I really do not appreciate your insinuations about Professor
Bob Berring's integrity. I have known him for twenty years, since I was a
law student and he was a rookie reference librarian. In all that time, I
have seen only honesty, openness, and fairness from him. As it happens, on
the issue of citation form, I agree with you much more than with him, but
this is an issue on which reasonable people can differ. Your yellow journal-
ism style of attack does nothing to raise the level of discourse on this very
important question.
