We stamp the edges of all our books. That way we are less likely to get
our materials confused with attorneys' personal volumes, or books they
may borrow from other libraries and bring in. Also, as I visit attorney
offices I can quickly scan their materials (without being too obvious) to
see if any of them are "mine", then check to see if the book cards are
still in them--i.e. the materials were not officially checked out!
Often the cards are STILL THERE, so I give the offenders a gentle lecture
and take the card. We find more stuff this way...
