Although many libraries now require the J.D. as well as the
M.L.S. I am not always sure it is necessary as long as the
person is able to handle and phrase questions so athat he
can get answers. I know from my own experience that when I
first came to work here, it would have been easier for me if
I had a J.D because everyone always made the comment," but
you are not an attorney. So I guess, the perception is very
important. I feel as if I have a creditable job here(13th
years) but it would have been easier. I guess in a sense,
its like having a dual masters required when you work in a
          university or college setting.
