Is it just me...?

....or are others not getting the concept. I have before me a brochure for
the Eighth Edition of the Handbook on Insurance Coverage Disputes (1995)
from Aspen, formerly Prentice-Hall. It's a lovely little one volume
pull-the-center-post binder with the title embossed in gold and the phrase
"Eight Edition" prominent on cover and spine. Just like the Seventh Edition,
which came out in 1994. And the Sixth Edition in 1993. And the Fifth Edition
in...(My records only go back to 1990, but you get the picture.) Isn't the
idea of a looseleaf (other than making it mandatory that you purchase every
single update the publisher can find some excuse for printing) that you
don't have to replace the whole book every year? The least they could do is
not put the edition number on the cover, or send a label to cover the old
number. Or perhaps send instructions for turning last year's binder into a
lovely, decorative potpourri holder or flower press or something.

Of course, now that I'm done venting, the partner is still going to have me
order the new one. Anyone need a potpourri holder?
