Actually it was meant as a compliment tp the profession.
Compared to the heat and bombast that I have seen among some
of the lawyers about this issue, the law librarians had a
lot less noise and a lot more substance. They also had a lot
more civility, a quality I find I value more highly as I get
older.
I think it was Mark Twain who said "Thunder is loud.
Thunder is impressive. But it is the lightning that does
the work."
As to the personality stereotype, for me, it did not survive
the after hours carousing at one of your conventions<g>
