I just finished reading the draft report of the ABA Citation
Committee. It provides for the use of vendor neutral media
neutral citations while encouraging parallel citaions to
printed reports for a transitory period.
This is an important milestone in what has been a long
struggle.
I wanted to thank the law librarians as a group. You
probably made the difference between a good idea that fell
by the wayside and a good idea that is well on its way to
being implemented.
I think that your efforts, your rationality, your attention
to detail, your willingness to work, and your civility
reflect well on your profession. The positions that you
have taken may not have been without dissent, but it was a
dissent that contributed to and strengthened the quality and
integrity of your thought.
You all may be quiet, but you sure do good work.
Thank you.
Regards,
John H. Lederer
Chair, Technology Resource Committee, Wisconsin State Bar
