auto unsub/postpone

Dear Law-libbers

A number of you are being dropped from law-lib or postponed from law-lib
for no apparent reason. Here is the reason. The list software is set
for AUTO-DELETE-SUBSCRIBERS for the obvious reason to eliminate
administrative costs in deleting subscribers who bounce mail. This means
that when law-lib tries to send mail to an unknown address and the address
bounces the mail back, the list software automatically drops the
subscriber. If the error returned to law-lib
states that the mail cannot be received because the mailbox is full, the
software will postpone the address. That is why sometimes the address
has been deleted and other times it has been changed to postpone.

Dave Zavatson, our campus resource is aware of the problem and believes
future generations of listproc software will help solve this
problem or offer us alternative administrative function options. In
the mean time, the best approach is to unsubscribe and resubscribe as
you have been doing. I would welcome the help from any technies out
there who have solved this problem with listproc 7.2 software. To disable
the AUTO-DELETE-SUBSCRIBERS function however is not an option at this time.
