I discovered almost by accident that the TSSIS keeps production figures for
catalogers and cataloging departments. To my knowledge they have never been
published, but I think they gather them every year. We have two professional
catalogers and 1.5 support staff. Only the professionals do cataloging, and
as is true most places, very little of it is original cataloging. My head of
cataloging tells me the Heads of Cataloging discussion group collects the
statistics. and this year that is being headed up by the head cataloger at
Berkeley.
