We have a patron doing research for a speech who is trying to
locate a statement that he read to the effect "at one time in
the courts of general jurisdiction in England, there were only
12 judges for the whole country." He wishes to verify the time
period for this fact and its veracity so he can draw a
comparison for how many judges were needed during the same time
in the U.S. for similar courts.
Any suggestions on where to look? This is one of those
questions that stumps me before I even get started. Thanks
very much in advance for any suggestions on resources to check.
