CFR's on CD-ROM

Here is the summary of responses I received:

1. Compression on West is not so good and therefore the
information is on two disks - LCP's is on one disk

2. Searching for phrases runs more quickly in Premise (used by
West) than in Folio (used by LCP)

3. West uses the same search language for all its products - if
you are familiar with it, then their CD will be easy to use

4. The tree structure of Folio (used by LCP) is preferred by
many because you can see how many hits exist for a particular
search term

5. LCP's disk called CFR PLUS has direct links to the text of
the Federal Register

6. Make sure that the system you choose can display tabular
and graphic images

7. Legal Information Alert will feature an article in its
February or March issue that compares the CFR on
CD/Online/Internet

8. Counterpoint also has a disk but no feedback was given by
users of this product

This summary does not denote agreement or disagreement with
any of the comments - just passing them along. The ultimate
decision is often dictated by costs, what equipment you have
to run the CD's, and personal preference.

Hope this helps.
