I AM NOT ON LAW-LIB. PLEASE REPLY DIRECTLY TO ADDRESS BELOW.

We want to urge the student journals at NYU to change their
policies so that cite-checking will be more efficient for us and for
them. A few examples of policies that have caused us to pull our hair
out: no online cite-checking; coming to the library to locate sources
that are not likely to be in libraries (such as unpublished documents,
advance copies of documents) before asking the author of the article to
supply a copy (we see these often from students check articles in
international law); editors sending students to check
footnotes without giving them a copy of the accompanying article text.

To build our case, I would appreciate hearing about
problems you have encountered and the benefits you foresee if particular
policies were to be changed.

We also plan to present this case to the National
Association of Law Reviews.

Thank you in advance for any comments.
