Jacqueline Wright writes:
>I quote from the 9th edition of How to Find the Law, page 332, the chapter
>on Looseleaf Services. "The looseleaf publishing format is an ingenious
>response to our legal system's constant state of change....The major attri-
>butes of looseleaf services are the promptness with which they notify
>researchers of developments." Nauseating, isn't it?
And I thought we just bored people. Maybe the nausea can be relieved
somewhat by turning to page 406 of the same tome: "Many treatises are
issued in a looseleaf format to facilitate supplementation. . . . It is
important
to remember, though, that these are not the same as looseleaf _services_,
which are updated weekly or monthly. . . ."
The Standard Federal Tax Reporter is a service. Couch is a treatise. I too
would rather see it in bound volumes than in ephemeral pamphlets and
cumbersome binders.
