Among the guidelines for AALL committee appointments is the following provision:
Committee membership shall be balanced by geographic location, type
of library, and type of position, as much as is possible within the pool of
committee applicants.
This language was adopted by the Executive Board in July 1987 and is still
in effect as far as I know. The intent is for the work of the committee to
benefit from the diverse perspectives and experience brought by the
membership of AALL. There is no language to suggest that a certain
percentage of committee members should come from any sector of AALL membership.
