I don't really have an answer to your question, but this might be of some
help ... I seem to remember that when I investigated various versions of
the US Code on internet, the only one I found which gave the currency was
the one at the GPO ACCESS site. I believe it also gave references to
subsequent Public Laws affecting each section, something like:
(Laws in effect, January 31, 1994)
(Document affected by Public Law <nnn-nnn> Section <nnn>)
Public access to GPO ACCESS is available through Federal Depository
Libraries. I used the one at Georgia Southern University:
