Location: Arthur Neef Law Library, Wayne State University, Detroit

Rank: Librarian II/III

Appointment Salary Range: $39,000. minimum

Position Available: Immediately

Position and Responsibilities:
The Information Services Librarian will report to the Director of the Arthur
Neef Law Library. The individual in this position: 1) is responsible for the
information service aspects of CD-ROM and CALI including collection develop-
ment; 2) assists with the evaluation and selection of hardware and software
for electronic resources; 3) develops and coordinates outreach programs
involving law library information and research support; 4) prepares training
aids, guides, tuitorials and documentation to support the law library's role
in the Library Information Literacy Program; 5) coordinates reference assist-
ance and the research support program for law library patrons; 6) supervises
trains and monitors work of library science interns assigned to the research
support center; 7) serves as the law library liason to all non-law school
programs; 8) coordinates the Superfund partnership program with the State
Bar of Michigan's Environmental Law Section; 9) attends meetings, conferences
and seminars on current trends, new technology and developments in library
operations; and 10) other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information
Science program and JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Experience
with microcomputers, local area networks, CD-ROM installation and Internet
resources. A minimum of 2 years of reference experience in an academic law
school library. Ability to deliver lectures, small group learning experiences
and one-to-one teaching/learning experiences that are appropriate to the
learner. Ability to monitor personnel activities and supervise the work of
subordinate personnel. Ability to set priorities and deal tactfully and
professionally with faculty, students, staff, administration and the public.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral and written communication
skills. High energy level.

Qualifications for Rank of Librarian II: 1) Demonstrated ability to carry
out competently the range of professional library functions pertaining to
use of technology in information services delivery; 2) evidence of ability
to: work well independently, make sound decisions, interact constructively/
productively with colleagues, and assume increasingly greater responsibility
and 3) acheived visibility on statewide and regional level appropriate to rank.

Qualifications for Rank of Librarian III: 1) Excellence in job performance
and professional acheivement (e.g., identifiable contributions to the develop-
ment of librarianship in terms of the services and activities of a particular
library or libraries in general). Examples are significant innovations with
respect to the library's collections, services or methods; and participation
in significant cooperative projects through professional organizations or
otherwise. 2) Must have acheived recognition within the profession on state
and regional level appropriate to rank. Appointment at this level is based
on the applicant's cumulative professional work rather than on any single
accomplishment.
