I have been following the discussion concerning Couch on Insurance, and I
thought an interesting point was brought up.
I, too, wonder when vendors tell the library community that they changed an
item because of some survey or market anaysis, etc. told them that's what we
(who is "WE"?) wanted. Does anyone know of any survey that resulted in better
quality or lower prices?
I still gripe about the added cost to the Shepard's Citators caused by the
mid month express editions. I would be glad to do without those, but
Shepards told me this was what the customer wanted. ETC ETC, you get the
picture.
Why don't vendors publish the results and let us know who advised them to
change, and who was or was not included in the survey. Or are their allusion
to some survey only a ploy (I'm to nice to say "lie") because they have
discovered yet another way to gouge us with an less than necessary price
increase or decline in quality of the printing or the publication.
Just my late Friday musings.
