Impossible Er

Hi, LawLibbers,

I've been asked to find what I think is impossible
to find, so I turn to you for the definitive answer.
I've been given some phone numbers and asked to
find out who owned them 20 years ago. I checked
with our public library in town -- they have
old phone books on microfilm but only for
Philadelphia. Unfortunately, this is for a city in
NJ. I checked with that city's public library and
they don't keep them -- and they don't know of
anyone in the area who does. I called Bell
Atlantic -- they only keep that information for
4 years, then "it's destroyed". The online
services just have current info. I can't imagine
that the companies that put the phone directories
on CD would have put on any historical information.
Besides, where would they have gotten the directories
if the phone company doesn't keep them.

So, before I tell the attorney that it can't be done
(which I hate to do!), I'm turning to you guys.
Does anyone have any ideas? Please respond to me
directly.

Thanks much.
