BYU Law Library is buying a lot of CD databases lately and before we
buy any more, we need to come up with some policies. So far this is
what we've agreed on:
1. We will purchase a title in electronic media if
A. It meets the library's criteria for print products
B. The search protocol is easy to master contract allows for multiple
users
C. Installation does not require additional hardware.
2. We will purchase an electronic title that duplicates a print title if
A. Usage will be taught as part of legal research training
B. Search protocol will be useful to students in the future
C. Title in paper is heavily used and backup is desirable
D. Product is easier to use in electronic form than in paper
E. Usage of product will be assigned by a particular professor
F. Search protocol is easy to master and teach
G. Contract allows for maximum projected users
H. Installation does not require additional hardware.
I'm working on the staff of the CRIV Sheet so your response will not only
aid our library but will likely be included as part of an article I'm writing.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this request
