Archives & postings

Perhaps this will help the many people who've been posting questions
about the list, the volume of messages, etc.

If you don't know how to locate the law-lib archives, SAVE THIS MESSAGE!

The law-lib archives are easily accessible via gopher at
gopher.law.cornell.edu - choose Discussion and Mailing List Archives from
the menu. Law-lib is accessible in reverse chrono order (handy for
checking to see if messages have been posted that you haven't received),
and there's also a menu choice for WAIS searches of the archives.

If you can, make this site one of your gopher bookmarks.

I've found that messages posted to the list appear in the archives VERY
quickly.

And yes, message volume is down - the dog days of summer are upon us.

If the flow of messages from law-lib ceases completely, the first thing I
do is check the archives. If there are no new messages there, I contact
the list administrator and ask that the technical people be notified of a
possible problem. If new messages are arriving at the archives I contact
my Internet provider, and the list administrator, since the problem might
be in either place.

A list administrator, you say? Yes there is a real person you can
e-mail. This information, plus other essential information that people
are always asking the list, was included in the message which the
computer sent to you when you first subscribed.

If you don't have that help file any more, send the message

help law-lib

to listproc@ucdavis.edu

and the computer will send it to you. Print it and save it! You'll need it.
