I have purchased the set for the library since I did not purchase the
original set. It does indeed appear that the five volumes have been
recompiled with updated biographies and additional sources cited in the
bibliographies of each justice (with some updates in some bibliographies, but
note that important periodical studies of John Marshall, for instance,
are not cited in that justice's bibliography).

I think the only way of deciding on purchasing the set is to compare some
of the articles between the two sets to determine if the articles are
revised or not.
