EDGARCVT 1.1 is now available as freeware; enhancements include:
o Better looking WP5.1 files
o Command-line parameters
o Support for batch-file conversion
o Support for LaserJet 4s
For those not familiar with EDGARCVT, the program converts raw EDGAR
filings (e.g., those currently available free from town.hall.org*) to
formatted WordPerfect 5.1 files. The files can then be retrieved and
printed with WordPerfect or any other program that can read WP5.1 files.
EDGARCVT should run on any IBM PC under DOS or Windows.
EDGARCVT 1.1 is available for anonymous ftp (as a self-extracting archive)
at:
town.hall.org in /edgar/Tools/edgararc.exe
or
ftp.netcom.com in /pub/dj/djames/edgar/edgararc.exe
Netcom users can simply retrieve it from
/ftp/pub/dj/djames/edgar/edgararc.exe
Make sure to ftp it as a binary file ("type binary" before "get
edgararc.exe" on most machines). After downloading it to your PC, type
"edgararc" -- this will extract the files edgarcvt.exe (the executable
file), edgarcvt.lj3 and .lj4 (configuration files for LaserJet IIIs and
4s), and edgarcvt.txt (documentation and full instructions).
If you have any questions, please send them to djames@netcom.com with
"EDAGRCVT" in the subject line.
*ATTENTION -- Free access to EDGAR filings to end?
If you haven't connected to town.hall's EDGAR site lately, please do
(http://town.hall.org/edgar/edgar.html). They have announced that free
filings through their site (currently the *only* free site) will end on
October 1, 1995. Please connect and find out why this may happen and what
you can do about it.
