SUBJECT: E-Mail rebuttal

Hurray for you Josephine! I too dislike it when people read things (esp.
negative things) into my words -- this we don't need from our own colleagues.
When faced with these negative types I reply to them Thumper's Mother's words
of wisdom ..."if you can't say something nice ..." Least we forget, OCLC
wasn't an overnight phenom either, and we didn't accuse the catalog librarians
of not doin their job if they had to continue to type cards, etc. At my last
job I came up against Information Management types who told me "If we let you
on the Internet, you'll open a can of worms WE'RE not prepared to deal with."
But the librarian who took over after I left now has Internet, so maybe I'd
laid some ground work for her to act on. I've seen some postings about what we
CAN do to help the "un-wired" and that's encouraging. Share the information,
post for someone without e-mail, tell everyone what you did that finally got
through to the "Powers-That-Be". We're all in this together -- we need to be
positive about our futures and the future of the next generation.

(DISCLAIMER: These are my opinions, and mine alone, and do not necessarily refl
ex those of my employer)
