There has been much discussion over the past week concerning the
appropriate subjects for BANKRLAW. Bruce Markall, founder and list-owner
of BANKRLAW, believes that there is a need for a "case-specific"
discussion group but that BANKRLAW is not the appropriate forum. See
below. There were a number of follow-up postings which convinced me
that there is a demand for an additional bankruptcy mailing list.
The InterNet Bankruptcy Library has set up an unmoderated mail list
discussion group for bankruptcy, insolvency and troubled company
professionals. To subscribe send the following message in the body to
listserv@bankrupt.com substituting your email address for doej@domain.com:
subscribe roundtable doej@domain.com
All postings should be directed to roundtable@bankrupt.com

A portion of Bruce A. Markall's posting:
As we have been through before, however, I do have some concerns. One is that the
BANKRLAW's restriction on requests for specific help has always been around; it should come
as no surprise to anyone. The second is that this list does not exist to foster free advice. The
examples I refer to were what I consider obvious examples to get help on a specific case
(especially given the cross-posting to LCC), which not only is contrary to the stated conditions
on the list, but may run into ethical problems as well (which we have also discussed on this list
before).
Other lists exist for discussion of the type Mark wants. As I said in my earlier post, Lexis
Counsel Connect is an excellent service, designed to obtain the type of case-specific help that
seemed to be the subject of earlier posts. Moreover, if someone wants to take Mark's
comments to heart and start a list, great. I hope they let me join too. (And we'll provide help it
setting it up, if necessary!)
